![]() ![]() Lack of drag-drop or any keyword-search means it can’t be re-purposed for use as an alternative Library. No drag-and-drop from its loader library, over to the Poser stage. A fine use of structured workflow with incorporated buttons for the user. Pitterbill in Texture Paint Helper, 2022. It knows about Poser runtime structures and presents these quickly and well. content folder and not access to Poser, so does not require a specific Poser version due to scripting etc. But it’s nice to know that ye olde standalone desktop software dedicated to working with a Poser runtime can still run. ![]() I guess 3D Coat, and I recall many used Blacksmith3D at one time, and a simple node setup in the Material Room can also work with any Poser version, and don’t overlook that Poser 11 had new Material Room features in that regard. It doesn’t appear to be a re-texturer / re-painter as such, but an overlay-builder (think ‘tattoos’, ‘body-paint’) which lets you use regular Photoshop to do the painting of the overlay. Works with any Poser figure, is not restricted to a base V4 or just DAZ figures. I find I have a copy of the latter installer. If you want to see if you have it archived somewhere, the DAZ Studio installer was DS3_TexturePaintHelperLoader_1.0.0.0_Win64.exe (possibly DAZ 3 only) and it was ps_ap204b_TexPaintHelper.exe for Poser. No videos though there is a helpful short user-guide, and the software itself has a step-by-step workflow built in. Long marked as “Unavailable” at Renderosity. From the tech side of things I would be able to develop something like this, but I lack Houdini API understanding/guidance and I am not sure if there would be a market for this “inside the Houdini-verse”.I was prompted to take a quick look at Texture Paint Helper 1.3 aka texturepainterhelper. ![]() It would have to be a somewhat separate tool that only connects with the viewport and outputs maps into Houdini, in order to get usable on-screen performance. I can imagine it to be possible to “integrate” something like a painter module into Houdini. ![]() So I am, too, looking for a solution that “works for me” - and I am considering writing one myself. I loved Mari (before they “improved” the UI, making it much slower) and would immediately renew my license/buy a new one if it got sold to a different company. I am interested in this discussion, as I have had my problems with Painter's performance (what performance?) and mentioned limitations. There is Blacksmith3d ( ) - I never could “get warm” with it back in the days when I tried to use it, but it still seems to be worked on. So my hopes for this software have increased recently, even though the licensing issues Blender imposes on third-party developers are considerate. Then there is Blender, which may be somewhat inferior to Painter in its (Painter's) most recent version, but it is quite constantly being worked on and I have been in contact with a few people using Blender that actually know what they are doing. I think Painter even today still doesn't really support UDIM workflows, painting over seams is still an issue etc. Back when I used it, it was without any doubt superior to Substance Painter in almost every aspect. As for painter: There is Mari, of course, which does have some kind of Indie version as I hear (I refuse to buy/support Foundry software, so I really do not know). perpetual is a heated discussion in itself for sure. ![]()
